Syabas !! Kerana anda hadir ke sekolah ..

It's been a crazy week doing budget for year 2007, sleeping less than 5 hours everyday, with my brain continue calculating log cost for year 2007 even the body is 'sleeping', now I'm down with a little flu and sore throat =(

Thank God the first loop of budget is done, and I've also submitted the Log cost for month September to the zone yesterday, phew ... =)

Anyway, I saw this signboard at a school located in Shah Alam when YZ and I went for our favorite Yong Tau Fu a couple weeks ago ...

I find it kinda 'funny' to place a board congratulating the students being able to make it to school ? When did it change to being a reward to attend school ? Or is the school expecting the students to meet up with something on the way to school, maybe the students have to fight some enemies along the journey to school ... ka ka ...

I wouldn't imagine myself going to school .. upon reaching the school gate, the headmaster is shaking my hand and saying : Son, congratulation, you made it to the school .. scary !!

Anyway, wishing you a great weekend with some bad air quality & Syabas to the school management !

Remaining days in Tawau, Sabah ..

Actually there is something more precious that I've tasted compared to the heavenly food in my previous posts ... which is the whole experience of marriage.

But before we go into the marriage topic, 2 more yummy food I wanna introduce :

Seafood porridge ... after so many days of heavy food, having something light is no less delicious. A group of us had this for supper while watching TV one night, and my oh my .. it's just simply light & wonderful.

Special Fish Keropok found only in East Malaysia. Willie gave me 2 packets, personally find it a little too 'fishy'. It may be a little strong for us (West Malaysia dudes) - anyone wanna try this ? I still have 1 packet in my room.

Ok back to the main topic ...

Marriage is a wonderful thing God blessed us with .. well I followed Willie during my stay in Tawau, and I actually realized something special that I never thought of before when others mention mariage to me.

Marrying someone just doesn't mean you are marrying the person that you want to live the rest of your life with, nor just committing to take care of one another, the decision also brings 2 families together, further to this, you are related to a totally new family. And .... it doesn't stop at calling new mum & dad, aunties and uncles, a marriage basically merge both cultures of the 2 families together too ... well, I'm still discovering beautiful things like this myself as I mearn more about YZ's family.

Anyway, Willie's wedding brings some good experiences ...

New & Old friends @ Tawau ..

I wanna take this opportunity to say thank you to all my old & new friends that took care of me during my stay in Tawau, surely I felt the love of God, the friendship, the warmth of the 2 beautiful families, and of coz the food !!

And a special brotherly BIG THANK YOU to my brother Willie, it's such a blessing being able to help you during your wedding, I've learned a few tricks too =)

It's also a blessing knowing you as a good friend, thanks for all the care, prayer support and ho ho ... never in my life, I was blessed EVERY single meal for whole 8 days. Although I might need to spend some $$ going for more futsal games =)

Tawau - Day # 3

After 2 days of rich seafood, I personally find this the another wonder of Sabah. Will you may find this in KL too, but we (Willie, Adam & I) had this for afternoon tea. It started from a little conversation, of coz started by me la .... =)

Me : Eh, I really need coffee la, if not I may sleep in the dining table later when we are at your wife's place.
Willie : ok ok .. let's find a place for coffee ya ... hmmm .. good, what about some pulut ?
Me : Huh ? Pulut with coffee ? Ok sure ! Adam you ok ?
Adam : Sure !

So we came to this place in the middle of no where again ( Road Side ), and guess what ! They have chicken wing in the middle of afternoon, we had some pulut & chicken wing .. and of coz my lovely coffee.

You can have chicken wings, satay, pulut ... etc ... who can say no to chicken wings ?

Pulut with coconut fillings in the middle ... I can remember the aroma even now ..

And they bbq this sticky rice before serving, which makes it soft, warm and yummy when you put them into your mouth ... wow !

Haha ... one of Steven Chao's favorite, I'm not a chicken wings addict, but the feeling of having chicking wings under the afternoon sun, is something different.


If you can close your eyes now, please do it & try to imagine yourself having these juicy chicken wings, pulut & companied with a cup of hot coffee ... Hungry ? Ha ha ... Why not go for some chicken wings tonight at the nearest hawkers centre.

Tawau - Day # 2

It's like heaven when I reach Tawau, eating heavenly food non stop since I touched down @ Tawau. The next morning, we went to the airport to pick up EYong without breakfast, another buddy of Willie. By the time we got him, it's almost noon. But it's worth the wait, coz we went for Tawau 'Shang Yuk Mian' ...

It's a normal shop somewhere ( I don't know where ) but the most important thing is the food !

Just look at the 'mian' and the 'shang yuk', looking at it instantly make me hungry again ! The yellow 'mian' tasted different from the local mee, when u bite the 'mian', you can feel the 'spoongy + crispy + bouncy + heavenly + wonderful + drunk + satisfaction' feeling all at 1 go ! I better not mention more about the 'shang yuk' -- If I can use 1 word to describe the 'Shang Yuk Mian' it would be = OH MY GOD ! Opps that's 3 words .. =)

You even have fish ball soup that comes with the 'Shang Yuk Mian'. If anyone know where to find it in KL, do let me know. Maybe this is next best thing to introduce in KL, after the ever normal 'Sarawak Mian'

After lunch, took a drive to the Seaside, which is just next to the town centre ..

What I did in the afternoon is not important as the next highlight of the day, DINNER ! So let's just go straight to the point !!

For those that doesn't know what a Mantis Prawn ( Lai Lew Har ) looks like, it comes packed in a Mineral Water Bottle. Nolah ... They just need to separate these fellows so that they don't kill each other with their sharp claws. But just look at their size ! And these are just consider normal ones .. =)

Hmmm .... looks a little bit like sea cockroach ... kinda yucky looking at them, but what the hack, they taste good !

Not alot of meat, but it taste like half chicken + half fish ..

THIS ! This is something I will not miss when I go to Tawau again. I normally go to one restaurant near Kepong for this Salted duck egg crab meat, but after eating the ones in Tawau, the restaurant in Kepong pales in comparison.

You not only eat the crab meat, you will not only lick the shell ...

You will actually eat the shell as well because it's sooooooo ... crunchy !

Can never imagine being blessed Seafood 2 days in a row, but what else you can do in Tawau if you don't eat seafood ?

Btw, I discover the best way to know new friends, and to break the ice is to have seafood ! These are my new found buddies -- Adam - my left, Willie & Li Yet, Danny and twins Hui Chuan (L) & Hui Chai (R)

Tawau - Day # 1 - Part 2

Remember to look for this fellow when you are @ Oasis Cafe, you may get extra 20% of drink or food ... ka ka ... sorry la Willie, there is no free promoting ..

After my drink @ Oasis Cafe, we went to the Tawau wet market to get some stuff ..

This is how the Tawau Wet Market look like, similar to the ones in KL, but Will told me that's another one in town, may pay a visit if we have the time.

Very soon later, cheng cheng cheng, it's DINNER time !!

Giant Prawns only found in Sabah, trust me it's huge ! 2 giant prawns is like a Big Mac's size, maybe McD can have a prawn burger someday =) Yum yum !!

Finally I wanna introduce this wonderful drink I found in Tawau, it's call BMW. No joke, they call this BMW, it's actually Ice Mocha with CinCau ... double YUM !

Not many times I cannot finish my food, this time I CAN’T finish my food, I CAN’T even finish my drink =) What a day, and it’s only the first day @ Tawau, Sabah !
